Why Spider Lily?

In terms of salience, the spider lily is the most prominent and salient because it is sharply-focused and its bright white colour of its petals provides a stark contrast against the blurred green grass. But why has the spider lily been made salient, especially its white petals? What meaning may it afford in the context in which I live and interact with others?

Connotations
Behind the spider lily's denotational significance - that it is a type of lily, there are connotations; which are strongly embedded within cultures, attached to it. Some of the connotations include innocence and purity as seen from the contrast of the white petals, while its delicate features can also lead one to connote it to a kind of fragile, delicate and transient beauty. Spider lilies are a truly amazing plant that can tolerate the the broadest possible range of growing conditions - from wet boggy areas to dry areas. Hence one can connote resistance and hardiness to the flower.

Meaning potential
Based on these connotations, it can afford several meaning potential to how i live and interact with others. Life, like the flower is fragile and delicate. There are so many things in this world that has the capacity to destroy us or propel us forward and upwards, depending on where we are and the circumstances that surrounds us. Similarly, interaction with others are delicate and fragile. We have to be sensitive to many factors when interacting because conveying the right intention and meaning is important as it can result in miscommunication if not done with care. And when miscommunication occurs, it can destroy the fragile relationships that we have formed with others.
Although delicate, humans are resistant and hardy to the challenges that are thrown to them in life. Even though we may face hardship upon hardship, we still survive through them all.

Life apart from being fragile and delicate, can also be as beautiful as the flower, with love, peace and other wonderful emotions that we probably wont get to feel if we don't truly live our lives. It is through interaction that we can get to truly live our lives, and it is also interaction with others that makes life beautiful because we get to form relationships with others, and these are the relationships that we need in life to make life meaningful. Interaction itself can be beautiful - through the kind and poetic words that we hear; which can be as simple as hearing someone say 'I love you'.

Metaphors
From the connotations and meaning potential, I can transfer the connotations of lily and its potential meaning to the flower, on the basis of perceived similarity between the two 'places'.
Life is as fragile as a lily.
Life can be as beautiful as a lily.
